Police meeting with Jewish community

Senior officers and the Police and Crime Commissioner met with leaders from the Jewish community last night to update them on our work to tackle antisemitism. 

The meeting was attended by Community Advisors who were able to give us feedback and ask questions on behalf of the Jewish community.

We talked about how we are increasing patrols, including a regular armed police presence. Across the High Holy Days, officers made 417 visits across 47 separate locations. 

One question we received related to the threshold for making reports to the police. Our advice is to report everything as we take it all seriously.  If it’s just for our information, you can report this to the extra officers who you will see on patrol. Others way to report include the non-emergency number 101, online at herts.police.uk/report or by speaking to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact. We will deal with your report accordingly and it will help to build intelligence.

In an emergency, always call 999.

We also encourage you to report anything that doesn’t feel right to Counter Terrorism policing, via the government website at  https://act.campaign.gov.uk/.
